Online College Rankings: Top Online Colleges:

There are several online university and college rankings available on the Internet and published often by newspapers and magazines.  Each ranking has its own criteria, and an online college that ranks well in one ranking might not rank well in the other one.  Technically speaking, this could be true for any ranking of universities, including on-campus universities.  However, this is even more true when it comes to online universities, because of the very fact that they are online, and it is, therefore, difficult to measure their quality based on solid factors.

Our rankings, or the Internet-Colleges.Net rankings 2008, are not an academic ranking of these universities.  It is mainly a city ranking, which is made based on the idea that the bigger a city is, the better the resources of an online university located in that city will be.  Nevertheless, you should not base your decisions on these rankings!  You should visit the websites of every online college first, and make your own decision.  Furthermore, what might be a top online college to one might not even be among top 100 online colleges to another.  Again, what might be among the top 10 online colleges in one program, say law, might not even be among the top 20 online colleges in another program, say engineering or business (BSA, MBA, etc.).  It is for this reason that we are simply providing you a list of the most well-known online colleges here, and suggest that you visit the websites of each college and see how good they are. We are also providing a ranking, but these are not online college rankings but the rankings of cities based on their population.  In general, big cities will have better universities and colleges. By this logic, it could be predicted that big cities will also have better online colleges and universities (i.e. Internet colleges).  Nevertheless, this might not always be true; certain things such as tax, educational policies of certain states and other matters might influence certain online colleges and universities and their rankings and success.

The online colleges whose list we provide below provide a variety of degrees, ranging from business administration to law, engineering, education, arts, sciences, languages, international relations, etc.  Remember that a college might be the top online college in one program but not among the best online colleges in another.  There are also lots of online expert services ready to help you choose the best colleges that fit your needs.  These could be quite useful, but you should still be careful, and see if the person who is in a position to give you advice is really qualified or not.  Below is a list of some of the most well-known online colleges and universities worldwide.  On the right hand side, we also provide a rankings of cities, and most of these cities, being the biggest cities in the United States, also have some good online colleges and universities, though this might not apply to every city.  Internet-Colleges.Net is by no means associated with any of the online colleges and universities mentioned on this page.  Note that the list includes not only American but also British, Canadian, Australian and other universities, though the city data are only from the United States.
